Non-skid powder (also known as anti-slip or traction additive) is a fine-grain material mixed into or broadcast onto wet paint, gelcoat, or resin to improve surface grip and prevent slipping. It’s widely used on boat decks, docks, ramps, stairs, and industrial walkways where safety under wet or slippery conditions is crucial.

It can be made from various materials such as:

• Aluminum oxide (very hard, long-lasting)

• Silica sand (cost-effective but abrasive)

• Polypropylene or polymer beads (lightweight and less abrasive)

• Crushed walnut shells or rubber granules (more flexible, softer grip)

Application Methods:

• Mix-in: Blend into paint, gelcoat, or resin before application.

• Broadcast: Sprinkle onto a freshly applied wet surface, then seal with another layer.

• Pre-mixed systems: Available in products already containing anti-slip properties.
