easyAtoN Type1

The easyAtoN is an AIS transmitter used as ‚Aid to Navigation‘ type1 to provide location and identification of buoys, beacons and marks to nearby vessels and to display them on AIS chart displays in real-time.

Description

The easyAtoN Type 1 (Model A19302) is a rugged, waterproof AIS transmitter (Aid to Navigation – AtoN) designed to mark fixed or mobile navigational aids such as buoys, beacons, or hazard markers. It broadcasts AIS Message Type 21 using the FATDMA protocol by pre‑reserving dedicated time slots from a nearby AIS base station

Function

  • Marks Physical Navigational Aids
It transmits the identity, position, and status of a fixed or floating aid to navigation, making it visible on AIS-enabled ship displays and ECDIS charts.

  • Enhances Maritime Safety
By providing real-time position updates via AIS, it helps mariners safely navigate, especially in low-visibility or high-traffic areas.

  • Uses FATDMA Slot Reservation
Operates on Fixed Access Time Division Multiple Access (FATDMA) — meaning it transmits at pre-scheduled intervals using time slots reserved by an AIS shore station.

Use Cases

  • Fixed buoys and beacons

  • Harbor entrances

  • Offshore wind farms or danger zones

  • Temporary marks (in mobile version)

  • Environmental sensor platforms (if integrated)
